There are many different types of leaves offered through the Jefferson Parish School Board. For questions about your own leave options, you can contact one of the district's Leaves Technicians:

Whenever you will miss a day of work, you should communicate that with your supervisor, in addition to reporting it in the Kelly system.

If you would like to apply for a voluntary transfer, the application window is March 1 - May 31st. 

Certificated teachers, deans, assistant principals, counselors, and para-professionals may be eligible for a transfer if:

  • Have a minimum of 2 years of experience in JPS at their current school
  • Hold a valid Louisiana teacher certificate in the requested subject-area vacancy (teachers and administrators only)
  • Are currently NOT on any level of an Intensive Assistance Plan (IAP)

The maximum amount of students allowed in a classroom at one time is determined by state policy according to grade level. Under Bulletin 741 - Louisiana Handbook for School Administrators:

K-3: The maximum enrollment in a class or section in grades K-3 shall be 26 students. (Note: The system-wide, student classroom teacher ratio in grades K-3 shall be a maximum of 20 students to one classroom teacher.)

4-12: The maximum enrollment in a class or section in grades 4-12 shall be 33 students.
