DOs and DONTs of Social Media Webinar

You have a First Amendment right to post whatever you want whenever you want, right? It’s on your private Facebook page so that’s only because only a few people will see it, right?  You’re only sending the email to a few people so you’re safe, right? It’s okay to “like” the text message or post, no matter what, right?

Social media plays a strong role in sharing and communicating our lives, but there are limits to your freedom of speech, and you don’t always have freedom of consequence. This Zoom webinar will provide actual examples of how social media backfired on educators around the country and will offer suggestions how you can try to avoid suffering disciplinary action “up to and including termination."

Please use the link below to reserve your spot on Tuesday, October 29th at 6PM.

Just put in your private page, then it’ll be all right, right? Does the “right to free speech” mean that you can tweet and post anything you want? Should you “friend” students? Can you legally video your students? Can your students’ videos be legally used against you? What are your rights if students or parents slander you on facebook, blog, etc.?  Social media and technology are wonderful, but there are pitfalls.

This workshop will answer these questions, many other questions, and also your questions.
