JFT, AFT contribute $2,000 to assist in search for Terrilynn Monette

March 21, 2013 -- The Jefferson Federation of Teachers and the American Federation of Teachers announced today a $2,000 contribution to a Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to the discovery of a missing Jefferson Parish, La., teacher, who disappeared during the early morning hours of March 2.

Terrilynn Monette, a second-grade teacher at Woodland West Elementary School in Jefferson Parish, has not been seen since celebrating with friends her Teacher of the Year nomination.

“Terrilynn is a treasured teacher, whose energy and enthusiasm transfers to her students every single day. If anyone saw or heard anything that could be helpful to investigators, please come forward,” said JFT President Meladie Munch.

“Our collective heart breaks for Terrilynn’s family, friends and students. It is our hope that Terrilynn is found safe and can return to her family, her friends, her classroom, her students and her colleagues, all of whom miss her very much,” said AFT President Randi Weingarten.

With the two $1,000 contributions from the AFT and the JFT, the Crime Stoppers reward total for this case is now $5,500.
