Leave Policies

There are many different types of leaves offered through the Jefferson Parish School Board. For questions about your own leave options, you can contact one of the district's Leaves Technicians:

Jamie Babin

Krissy Boutte

Or call the District's HR office at 504-349-7866.

Whenever you will miss a day of work, you should communicate that with your supervisor, in addition to reporting it in the Kelly system.

Taking Leave Due to an Injury

If you are injured at work, the leave you are granted will depend on how the injury occured. There are three types

  1. Accidental: i.e. you tripped on a banana peel or due to your own clumsiness
  2. Assault: you've been struck, battered or threatened by a student, parent, or any other person at work.
  3. You were injured because of physical contact with a student while protecting them from the risk of injury (i.e. fight breaks out)

If you are injured on the job, please click here for more information on how to proceed.

Sick Leave (Paid)

Employees are granted 10-days of paid sick leave per year, and unused sick days do roll over from year to year. On the 5th day of consecutive leave, you must provide a doctor's note.

If you use exhaust all of your sick leave, you may be able to access the sick leave bank. To become a member of the Sick Leave Bank for FY 2012-13, an employee must complete a Sick Leave Bank Membership Enrollment Form and contribute one (1) day from his/her accumulated sick leave for the current school year during the Annual Open Enrollment Period.
