The Louisiana Federation of Teachers is more than an organization. LFT defends the legal and professional rights of members. From grievance representation to legal/professional rights workshops, LFT provides the protection that members need and deserve!
LFT takes legal action to defend public education
The LFT has filed lawsuits to defend the Constitutional right of all children to a free and appropriate public education.
Both Act 1 and Act 2 of the 2012 Legislative session violate the Louisiana Constitution, laws of the state and the professional rights of public school teachers. In concert with the Minimum Foundation Program formula adopted by the Legislature and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, these elements of Gov. Bobby Jindal’s education agenda constitute the most radical assault ever launched against public education anywhere in the United States.
